Flevoland is still developing, there is not enough balance between social, economical and environmental structure. Large investments are needed for new and better infrastructure, more jobs and to stimulate innovation.

Top five

“Within a few years, the Randstad will once again rank among the economic top five of European metropolitan areas”. This is the declared ambition of the cities Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, as well as the provinces of Flevoland, Noord-Holland, Utrecht and Zuid-Holland. In order to accomplish this ambition, these eight partners have set up “Opportunities for West”, a programme based on the European Regional Development Fund 2007-2013 (ERDF).
